Meigs Cemetery (Morgan County)

:?: Am trying to find out the official name and exact location of Meigs Cemetery. I have ancestors buried there, and I know it's a rather large cemetery near McConnelsville (Morgan County). However, their graves and nearly 400 others have been posted on Find A Grave as being in Meigs Cemetery (MUSKINGUM COUNTY)!! Would appreciate help in clarifying where this cemetery actually is so I can visit it this summer.

Thanks, Maggie. That's the one, but are you absolutely positive that the church name is included in its official name? We always knew this cemetery as just "Meigs Cemetery," and I'm told by a relative who grew up in McConnelsville that the cemetery is maintained by the township. Am finding that many cemeteries are incorrectly being listed on the web as "church cemeteries" simply because there's a church at the same location. 'Tis confusing but really appreciate your response.

You are most welcome.

It's hard to know. I use the Ohio Cemeteries: 1803 - 2003 and that's the name they have. I've found that they have many names in the communities but that's the only one in the book that matched.

This is the response I received from the Morgan County Library:
"Meigs Cemetery is located in Morgan County on Bristol Township Rd. 940 off of St. Rt. 78, located in section 28 in NE Quarter of Bristol Township in Morgan County. In our genealogy room, the cemetery is designated as MEIGS CEMETERY. The narrative describing the location of the cemetery includes the statement that ‘the name MEIGS CEMETERY is usually associated with Meigs Church of Christ.’”
